Eco-design studio Biobased Creations has built a showhome almost entirely from 100 different biomaterials including wood, mycelium, seaweed, straw and vegetable fibres as well as earth and sewage. In the bedroom, you can see the walls made out of our BioFold!
Unveiled at Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven in October 2021, the designers’ aim is to show how eco-materials can be used in the construction of ordinary homes.
We contributed our BioFold which made up the walls for the entire bedroom. BioFold is a unique series of acoustic elements composed of textile waste from recycled jute coffee bags. By employing origami and digital production techniques, the biocomposite material transforms into a functional, sensory and flexible architectural structure.
