Instant product samira boon feat2

instant products

The concept behind this product series is to produce 3D products straight out of the weaving machine; Ordinarily a fabric becomes a product by stitching various parts together. The advanced jacquard control mechanism offers a wide array of options that are usually not fully exploited due to their complexity, e.g. double/triple weaving and creating instant seams at the same time. By using the options that are available on an advanced weaving machine, the fabric doesn’t need any assembling, instantly becoming a finished product. The samples of making an instant glove look promising but are still in development. First samples of the instant pillow, after several trials we continued on another series, which resulted in the 3D cushions The instant bag was presented in Tokyo at 100% design, by framing the bag. We also got the first idea about making Wall Weaves. The double layered part creates openness which becomes a bag. And makes it wearable…… After cutting out you have a bag, including a handle. The two layers of this bag series are being woven together and separated, integrating 3D pocket space, seems, handles and fringes on the top. The 3D relief of the textile gives flexibility to the pocket volume besides the constantly changing visual perception due to it’s depth. Continuing on this idea we developed the waffle sleeves  for lap tops and foto camera’s. etc. The 3D relief of the textile gives flexibility to the pocket volume besides the constantly changing visual perception due to it’s depth.
