3D textiles

Intrigued by the constantly changing interaction between bindings and yarns, we want to create innovative textiles & products that trigger the senses. We challenge technical constraints as much as we can. Textiles with a 3d texture trigger the senses: offering distinctive aesthetics and a haptic experience. The fabrics’ 3D structures are created by using different weaving bindings, yarns and layers. The textiles have application in both interior design and products. This bag was commissioned by the Textiel Museum. They specifically demanded to make innovative use of their machines. The different layers of the inside and outside were woven at once as part of a multiple layered fabric. By bending it and threading a steel wire through the sides, we create a stiff form which also becomes the handle.

The research into 3D textiles formed the bases for the instant products collection.
